Protocol 02

Stress

You cannot think your way out of a body that is still on duty.

The problem

The day ends and the body does not. Jaw tight, thoughts looping, a sense that rest has to be earned — and never is.

The close

A downshift you can run in five minutes: breath, heat, and a written park for the leftover thoughts. Built for weeknights, not retreats.

The film

Voice and moving picture on every lesson. Two lessons free.

On-duty after hours

Chronic low-grade activation is not always 'anxiety'. It is often a nervous system that never got the all-clear. We separate threat from leftover speed.

Why this works

Exhale is the brake

Longer exhales and the 'physiological sigh' (two inhales, one long exhale) mechanically drop carbon dioxide and nudge the vagus toward rest. It is not a mood. It is a circuit.

Heat, then cool

A warm shower followed by a cooler room gives the body a temperature drop that resembles the one at sleep onset. Many people use this as the last gear-change of the day.

Worry needs a parking space

Unfinished loops keep the salience network online. A two-minute written dump — capture, do not solve — is often enough for the brain to stand down.

The sequence

Check them off as you install them.

  1. Physiological sigh

    1 min

Two inhales through the nose (second one a top-up), long exhale through the mouth. Four to six rounds.

  2. Drop the shoulders

    1 min

Unclench the jaw, let the tongue rest, drop the shoulders on each exhale. The body leads; the mind follows.

  3. Write the loop

    2 min

The rest of the sequence opens on a 3-night trial, or €19 once.

  4. Warm, then cool

  5. Same cue every night

Downshift

Physiological sigh

Two inhales through the nose, one long exhale through the mouth. Six rounds. This is a circuit, not a mood.

Ready

Six rounds, about a minute

Tonight's math

Caffeine cutoff

A useful rule: last cup about 10 hours before the time you want to be asleep. Half-life is long. The 4pm cortado is a loan.

12:30

Last caffeine. Earlier is kinder.
